Here's a fun challenge: try building a dating app, but for in-home dining experiences.
Food Fire + Knives needed a platform that could make magic happen between two very different groups—food lovers who wanted restaurant-quality meals in their own homes, and talented chefs ready to transform any kitchen into their personal stage. The technical puzzle was even trickier: we needed to create a seamless experience that handled chef profiles, booking systems, payments, gift cards, and dashboards while looking so gorgeous that people would get hungry just browsing. Oh, and it had to work flawlessly because nobody’s patient when they’re planning the ultimate dinner party in their own dining room.
Goal
Our mission was to create the Airbnb of private dining—a platform where finding your perfect chef feels as easy as ordering takeout, but infinitely more personal.
The site needed to showcase each chef’s personality and signature dishes in a way that made you want to invite them into your home immediately, while also giving chefs the tools they needed to manage their business like pros. We had to balance being visually stunning enough to make foodies swoon with being functionally robust enough to handle real bookings for intimate dining experiences in people’s actual kitchens.

The platform has become the go-to destination for food lovers who want something special and chefs who want to showcase their talents in intimate settings. Community awareness and adoption have grown steadily since launch, with users discovering that having a private chef isn’t just for special occasions—it’s for any Tuesday when you want to turn your dining room into the most exclusive restaurant in town.
